Connectors !

This picture shows all of the components, ( but for the receiver and servos ) in a model.
There are two motors shown, the GWS Parkflier motor draws <5A so it is fitted with a small plug.
Using the adaptor shown, it can be plugged into the large, 35A ESC, but the Speed400 motor, ( shown with a 4.7" prop, cannot be plugged into the small, 5A ESC.

Those wires that 'flow' . . .
Are the way in which I connect a small motor to my larger ESC's. ( I have four of them ! )

The S400 motor simply fits into the socket instead of the adaptor.

This pic. shows the two different sizes of plug/socket
I use.

The adaptor is fitted with a fuseholder. This is so that the smaller motor is protected - ( I like to be sure . . . ! )
A 4A fuse is fitted.

All my connections are soldered and covered with heat shrink tubing of appropriate colour.

This method of connections, allows me to use either of my four ESC's in any of my planes, with the exception that I cannot use a 'big' motor, ( > S280 ), with my little Ikarus 5A ESC.
